Power in Negotiations: Overcoming Emotional Reactions

Nothing like a little moral outrage to get rid of all that pent up frustration. Banging fists, raising voices, or just plain snotty behavior seems outdated, but it still happens more frequently than it should. This has no place in business, and certainly not in complex negotiations for relationship-based deals. One of the best things we can do as negotiators is to develop an observer's mind that takes us out of the situation emotionally. This is not easy, and very few people get this right every time. That's ok. Bringing this intention will still go a long way to creating a better environment at the table. And this will go a long way to creating deals that work!
